Guest posts are an effective way of promoting your blog, especially when you are starting out. Not only will you get the chance to introduce yourself to a new audience, but you will get the opportunity to link back to your site as well. Some bigger travel blogs offer payment as well, which is even better.
When looking for sites to guest post on make sure to stay relevant to your niche and the niche of the site you are writing for. There is no point pitching to a London travel blog if you run a travel blog about Thailand.
Also be wary of the quality of the site. Google cracked down on guest posting – in particular article directories and splogs (spam blogs). Make sure the site you propose to write for is a quality site with an identifiable person in the contact/about page.
